A few questions since you asked...

Hi Hollis group! SR write a nice blog, but of course I messed up and deleted it. Here’s the summary:

She REALLY wants me to post another question. She REALLY wants you all to keep up the blogging. Also, she wants you to know that something really sad happens in the book soon, but she won’t tell what. Finally, she wants to know why you can’t just do your responses on the blog instead of hand writing them because it’s easier to type.

SR, here are my answers. You could totally type your responses, print them out and bring them in. And (drum roll please…) here are some questions:

  • Josie's cousin Beatrice says "And sometimes what you see is so deep in your head you're not even sure of what you're seeing. But when it's down there on paper, and you look at it, really look, you'll see the way things are." (p. 45) What do Hollis' pictures say about the truth?
  • Why do you think the chapters of Hollis' memories are titled First Picture, Second Picture, etc instead of Chapter One, etc?

The chapters might be called Picture 1 or somthing like that because she might have a picture in her mind of what was happening. Like, in Picture 1 on the picture there was a dallop of peanut butter on one side of the picture and a smear of jelly on the other side. It was also a picture of a family with letters written all over it. I think she was remembering her past and of what all happened to her. We all discussed this in the group the other day.

Sorry, SR, I haven't seen anything to really respond to. Some of the groups are asking me a direct question when they want my input. If you have a question, that would be a good route to try!

Hollis' pictures say this about the truth. They say what she was feeling like and that's how she thinks the world should be. I love the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
